The photo posted by Patrick Bégin (http://news.lugnet.com/robotics/rcx/?n=2886)
shows a new version of the RCX 2.0 board, with several interesting
characteristics...

- The board was completely redesigned, here is the photo of the new version
posted by Patrick:
http://www.lugnet.com/jump.cgi?http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/pbegin/Divers/damage1.jpg,
the older version looked like this:

- The 3 Melexis motor drivers were replaced with 2 Sanyo devices, the ones that
are used in the NXT (labelled "D" on this photo:
http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/Philo/RCX-comp/damage1.jpg. As these drivers
can carry higher current than old RCX ones, this may prove interesting... or
annoying if the input fuse ("F") rating was not modified. Original RCX fuse was
rated 1.5A, this can be easily exceeded with Sanyo motor drivers that can
deliver more than 800mA on each motor port if they are heavily loaded. Maybe
another limitation was included to prevent that, the photo doesn't tell
everything!

- There is a provision for a power jack on this board!!! The part labelled "J"
is clearly that. There are most probably other components to populate in order
to use it (C1, C22, and a diode bridge on the other side of the board???)
