Hi Andreas,

"Andreas Jurk" <andreas.jurk@dornier.eads.net> writes:

I took an oscilloscope and measured the voltage of the
ports. So I got to know that a rectangular signal is put
on the sensor ports when they are activated by software.

this is the pwoer supply for active sensors (light and rotation).
It is interrupted briefly every 3ms to sample the value of the sensor.

Is this signal created by an extern generator or somehow
by the H8 microcontroler?

It is done by the microcontroller, every 3ms the OCIA interrupt
routine turns off the power and starts A/D conversion, and
when it is finished the A/D interrupt routine turns it on again.

Hope this helps

Jürgen

A Gray code was used in a telegraph by French engineer Émile Baudot in 1878.
The codes were first patented by Frank Gray, a Bell Labs researcher, in 1953.

Hi, I'm interested in the electronical function of the three sensor inputs of the RCX. I took an osilloscope and measured the voltage of the ports.
