I have had this problem before as well. Sometimes this can be from too much
ambient light or florescent light interfering with communication. Try isolating
the tower and the brick by putting a small box or jacket over them. If this
doesn't work, my solution (and this is very much my own voodoo) is to take out
one battery and press the on/off button to reset the firmware, spin around three
times, say booga, booga, booga, sacrifice a furby, pop the battery back in and
pray it works the second time.
