  Re: Brickos c++ threads problem

(...) The h8300 gcc compiler is really buggy across different versions of gcc/binutils. Using the wrong version of binutils/gcc with each other always causes extremely strange problems on my RCX. Usually it will allow me to send the firmware, but (...) (19 years ago, 14-Feb-06, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

  Re: Brickos c++ threads problem

(...) Danny, I've not used C++, but I have seen problems like this. For me, it happened when the firmware in my brick didn't match the firmware I compiled the program to use. However, it doesn't sound like that's the problem your having. I'd suggest (...) (19 years ago, 13-Feb-06, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

  Brickos c++ threads problem

:Hi. I'm currently working on a thesis using Brickos 0.9.0. I succeeded in writing, compiling and uploading c code. When I tried to convert the SAME program in c++ (changing extension from .c to .cpp) and eventually including a library such as (...) (19 years ago, 9-Feb-06, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

  Useful Track and Electrical Data

Regular browsers of Brickshelf might have noticed that I added a new track plans section to my gallery: (URL) the 9V folder (URL) there are useful modules such as Curves (URL) and Double Bends (URL) , conforming to various minimum radii depending on (...)   Re: Should I lubricate my Lego motor?

(...) Both. Likely due to bad design and/or manufacture. Someone at TLC is supposed to be looking into it. But I do not know what is the outcome. C S Soh (19 years ago, 25-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos, lugnet.technic)

  Re: Should I lubricate my Lego motor?

(...) Is this triggered by time or by usage? (i.e. will a motor that is run more wear out faster?) (19 years ago, 24-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

  Re: Should I lubricate my Lego motor?

(...) You may want to check if your motors are the new type 9V geared motor (#43362). If so, please be aware it is prone to failure, the first sign being sticking. Pl see my previous post on this ailment: (URL) amount of lubrication is going to (...) (19 years ago, 24-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

  Should I lubricate my Lego motor?

My robot is having a hard time getting around and I think that it's because the motors seem to be sticking. Even on my linoleum floor, my little tank robot often gets stuck and goes in slow circles, because one motor gets stuck. Once I nudge it or (...)   Re: Programming the RCX using Lego's RCX Software

(...) In the GUI thing, I think so. The actual firmware ticks every 0.01 seconds though, but you can't really tell where between ticks you are. (...) They may, but probably not. The monitoring code is a pretty constant drain unless the user switches (...) (19 years ago, 12-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  Programming the RCX using Lego's RCX Software

I am relatively new to the RIS, the RCX, and the RCX software. Just like many of you, I discovered pretty quickly that the RCX software is not intuitive to someone who has done programming before. What I can visualize doing in C, I struggle to (...) (19 years ago, 12-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics.rcx)

  Re: NQC and NXT

  Re: LNPd with USB Tower - success?

(...) I've never used LNPd, but since it's old enough to have "legOS" as its first letter, then it must support the serial IR tower. If no one else has info for you, you might consider buying one. Pitsco sells it new for $31.00: (URL) can get them (...) (19 years ago, 10-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

  Re: HOWTO: Building and installing brickOS tools on Mac OS X with USB IR tower

(...) As I said to Marc in a private email (I have trouble posting to lugnet, not being a member and all), I hacked "dll" so that it works on Mac OS X 10.4 with the USB tower, using the USB code from lejos. (URL) that helps. cheers peter (19 years ago, 10-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

  Re: HOWTO: Building and installing brickOS tools on Mac OS X with USB IR tower

(...) Perhaps one of the brickOS folks wants to work with me to turn this into a HOWTO that can go on the brickOS site? I also could take a stab at modifying the "dll" program to support USB on the Mac. If any folks from brickOS are interested, (...) (19 years ago, 9-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.legos)

  LNPd with USB Tower - success?

Hi, I'm new here. My name is Pierluigi and I am a student at the Turin Polytechnic ((URL) ). I've used BrickOS with LNPd for a summer project, and I've recently bought the Robotics Invention System 2.0, that comes with a USB IR Tower. This tower (...) (...) and found NQC. I never looked back. It is great that you volunteered to take over NQC, when Dave retired. The community is much better off because of your efforts on NQC and BricxCC). Thanks, Kev (19 years ago, 9-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

  Re: NQC and NXT

(...) Sounds great! So far, I was missing any positive statement concerning the compatibility of NXT and RCX. Now, with NQC, we will have certain compatibility with respect to the software. Compared to this the different hardware will be of (...) (19 years ago, 9-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

  Re: NQC and NXT

(...) Excellent! NQC has been my language of choice, largely because of such community support. Thank you John (and, originally, Dave, and others for providing me with aMac GUI, and... well, this is why I said "community") for this support. (19 years ago, 9-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics.rcx.nqc)

  communication between NXT and RCX!?

Since the NXT does not have IR capability, it will not be communicate with the RCX brick. If there is no such plan from LEGO to build in the new NXT such capability, I am afraid they are going to put RCX brick in an obsolete track!? O, no! ---...--- (...)
