NXT Battery not charging

Has anyone had this issue before; I have a NXT with the rechargable battery pack
and everything has been working fine. I've charged it twice with out issue, but
then last night the NXT complained about a low battery but when I hooked it up
to the charger only the green light came on....I never could get the red light
to turn on.
I left it connected over night and still I get the messge "low battery", the
battery never took a charge.I did try some of my LEGO Train power packs to see
if that made a difference, but still no red light.
Has my battery gone bad? Is there anything else I should try?
