Can someone please enlighten me as to why the handyboard is only
available as a bare motherboard? Although that may be fine for
experiments in controlled environments, it doesn't work at all well for
less than ideal circumstances such as out of doors, near children, or
when you inadvertently drop it.
The HB, in my opinion, is somewhat overdue for having a durable plastic
enclosure made for it that still offers easy access to the serial port
and IO connectors, but protects the motherboard from the elements as
well as from damage due to moderate impacts such as falling off a table.
I'm sure I'm not the only klutz that wants a handyboard but is too
afraid to buy one because I think I'd break it after twenty minutes.

| A case as you describe it would be nice. To me it's largely a cost issue. Custom plastic is expensive to set up -- thousands of dollars for an injection mold. Anyone care to open-source a design? That would be a start :-). Fred (...) (22 years ago, 9-Oct-02, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
