Hi all,
I am trying to build the following system, and I thought
that maybe Handy Board will come in handy. Anyone
has experience with something like that - adding a
touch screen LCD to it, networking many boards together?
Here's the description:
The finished system will have one central computer, and a
number of (10-20, possibly more) "seats". Each seat is a
module that is capable of accepting simple input from a user
(like a dumb terminal), editing it (no more than inserting/
deleting characters) and then, when the user is ready,
of sending the input to central computer (and perhaps
getting and displaying some info - simply text - back).
Now, these have to be small enough (say, the size of
a big handheld or a pocket organizer unfolded) and cheap
enough. It doesn't have to be a keyboard with a display
(well, display - probably LCD - is needed anyway
:), it could be a palm-like touch screen on which you can
write with a stylus - it doesn't need to
recognize the writing/picture, btu just to send it to
the computer - sort of like a Protege
organizer.). This latter scenario is actually preferred.
Each of those seats is preferably cheap (no more
than $50, preferably much less) and easy to make
from existing components...
Thanks in advance.
