you have to reprogram the serial configuration register.

download the 68hc11 documentation at handyboard.com/techdocs/ and read
the chapter on the SCI (serial communications interface).

after poking new values into the SCI registers to get the settings you
need, following the instructions at

  http://handyboard.com/faq/display.php?key=serial

to get control of the serial port away from Interactive C.

In your message you said:
hi,

i am trying to interface a mouse to the handy board to use as some sort of
position control.  I can read data from the serial port, but unfortunately
I need to reconfigure the port, but I dont know how.

The mouse transmits at 7bits 1stop bit, and the handy board reads in at
8bits 1 stop bit. So the data I get is useless!

How do I reconfigure the handy board serial port(i am linking through the
charger/serial adapter unit) to use these parameters?

Any help grateful and desperatley appreciated!

Simon
