May I suggest you test your system for response to invisible light?  You
could shine an Infrared LED onto it to see what you read.  There are also "UV
Cutoff" Filters available at photography shops supplying color darkroom
equipment (UV from the bulb will through off your color printing.
I have been doing a little experimenting with color detection (color
darkroom application) and have found invisible light to be a real problem
with getting predictable readings.
