I just managed to connect a Sharp GP2D12 to my Handyboard. The advantage compared to the GP2D02-device is the analog output which does not consume processing power for clocking the sensor. Further information can be found at: http://condor.informatik.uni-oldenburg.de/stueker/GP2D12
