A partial solution which I found is effective in turning
a tracked platform on carpet, is to run the pivot tread in the
same direction as the turn tread but at a much slower rate.
This worked quite well with a Radio Shack Sherman Tank, but the load
needed to be somewhat balanced over the pivot point.
