Hi Sriram,
To answer your question succinctly, yes you can use the sonar
modules on the Handy Board without the expansion board. Infact, Kent
Farnsworth has written up exactly how to do it with your existing HB.
Instructions, code, etc. can be found at:
ftp://cherupakha.media.mit.edu/pub/contrib/ic_contrib/kent/
You will also need to purchase the Polaroid 6500 OEM Kit
(part # 606783) for $99 from Polaroid. The kit includes two transducers,
two 6500 ranging modules, wires and connectors, technical manual and app.
notes. You can contact Polaroid at (617) 386-3965. Hope that helps.
BTW, I've done this and can vouch for its straightforward simplicity!
Good luck.
