I asked about this a few months back, and Fred Martin himself suggested
I might try the very same connection scheme that you mention. Here's
what he suggested:

According to Darkman's message of 4/21/98, the ECHO is indeed open
collector, so it ought to work fine. I'll give it a try (using D2 for
the second INIT instead of D3), and report on the results of the smoke
test.

| Hi all, I'd like to install sonar capabilities in my robot and I went to the FAQ to check how it was "recommended" to do it with the Polaroid OEM kit (It's at (URL) this seems pretty straightforward to do but I'd like to use 2 sonars, not just one, (...) (26 years ago, 24-Oct-98, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
