John:

After I posted my message, I tried hbdl as well with some success...  The
code downloads now, but upon completion, returns a "config register =
0x0F" error message.  This happened to both of my boards, which leads me
to believe that it is something to do with my pc/cable/zodiac sign.  I
see the data streaming to ( and from ) the handyboard with the scope, but
there is still another obstacle for me to overcome.

Hi Craig,

I am hardly an expert at this stuff as you can see from my posts.  However,
to answer your question, I was able to download pcode_hb.s19 only by giving
up on dlm and resorting to hbdl which is a Windows downloader that came
with my package from Gleason Research.

I know that dlm is fussy about the DOS environment so I suspect that there
was something in my setup that it did not like.  I may figure that out
someday.  But for now I am happily struggling with the next steps and look
forward to doing some real robot stuff soon.

Kudo's to Fred on a fine product.

John... yours is the first message I've seen on this list, and I
understand you have conquered the dowloading of pcode_hb.s19 for the
first time!  I have been trying several combinations of cables, bauds,
bits, and everything, and niether of my hb's will accept the code from
DLM. DLM simply hangs without generating a byte!
