Hi,

I've used the units out of the Polaroid cameras with no problems.

Do you have the documentation  from Polaroid???

It's about 10 pages long (circa 1975) .

I could try to scan them for you if you want.

Leave me your e-mail address.

Hi Eric
Do you have the documentation  from Polaroid???

The answer is no, what I used is the schematic diagram for the
Polaroid 6500 rangefinder board. the circuit is almost identical
exept for a transistor preamp betwen the transducer and the
receiver.  The only way I can initiate a ping after receiving an echo
is to power cycle the board. I think that the transmitter IC is
a modified unit custom made for the camera?

I spent aprox 3 Hours experimenting with the board, I built a counter
circuit out of 2 decade counters and gated the clock signal so when I
initiate a ping the counter starts and once the echo is received it
stops. The counter is fed ~533Hz clock signal so the result is
displayed in feet on two 7 segment displays. Pretty  accurate.

I would appreciate your effort very much if you can provide
me with the actual documentation!

(...) Better yet - can you make this available by ftp or on a web site somewhere? I too have an old autofocus Polaroid camera (can't remember the model) and would like to use the ultrasonic gubbins from it. Thanks Pete (27 years ago, 22-Sep-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
