Well, I was silent for a long time, and now I see that my silence could
have caused problems for more people.
A year and a half ago Ultra-Res ordered from DMSC a HB based PID
temperature controller. We have a policy here to order non-critical things
from young engineering companies. We were helped when we were young, now
its our turn, right?
$800 for an H-bridge and some autotune PID code, with, if I remeber right
$500 paid in advance.
Several months later we received a monster that I still keep untouched and
show to every new employee fresh from engineering school.
It was a huge metal box filled with 3-4 inch thick balls (literally) of
silicon tape and some ICs inside.
One thing I must say, was stunningly well done - documentation. God only
knows what it documents, but it was done well. They were not able to make
PID code work, so they ported to Interactive C some well-known fuzzy logic
control code (which is fine, I have no complaints).
Justice requires to mention, that almost two years ago when we ordered our
HB from DMSC it was delivered in time and intact. Moreover, we got some
support and proper attention. Later things went down quite quickly.
Cheers,
