Maybe try a lego motor or similar electric motor the electrical inputs
become the outputs.I've only tried this once with a 9 volt motor by lego
and it generated about 9 volts when spun at the same revs as it would have
run when used as a nine volt motor. We used a digital tachometer and I think
all of this happened between 4000 and 5000 rpm.Maybe the same would happen
with a12v motor.I'm unsure of what kind of reliability or longevity you
will achieve with this system.

looking for a small generator that pumps 6-15 volts dc at a shaft speed of
1,000 to 5,000 rpm or 10,000 to 20,000rpm.... 12v is the key... but it is
to be driven by a .12ci gas motor with a throtle, so maintaining the
voltage will have to be left up to a capasiter, but it may not even be
important...

i'll be using an rc car pinion, so i think the shaft will be 1/8th o an
inch, but i am not sure...

weight and size are an issue (smaller the better)

thanks for the help... even if it's just pointing me in the right direction
