On LCDs it doesn't look very nice reprinting all contents of the display
in case of changing one lonley character. The flickering is ugly.
Has anybody coded a function supporting this?

You will tend to get a lot of flickering if you do not place a sleep()
command in your loop that writes to the screen because the screen is being
redrawn too quickly.
