Hi all! I recently got hold of a sharp GP2D12 ir range sensor (The analog version, not 8-bit serial) Upon connecting it to my handyboard (Vcc-5v, Gnd-Gnd, and Vo to analog port) I get between 249 and about 251 value from the analog port. We're trying to use the little radio shack IR transmitter and reciever units to build our own. We're not sure exactly how this will work, but before we get too far, is this a reasonable thing to do? (...) [snip] Andrew, Take a peek at (URL) and bonk on the IRPD project. Getting IR demodulators to work reliably is a bit more tricky that just looking for a bounce. you won't be able to easily) get distance measures with standard IR comms parts (such as the IS1u60). light travels too fast for the time delay betw xmit and rcv to tell you anything. as a proximity sensor, all you get is a yes/no reading. if you (...)
