  Re: Sonar and the handyboard

(...) The one that is mounted is in a plastic box, glued in with silicon glue. The unmounted one was laying on my bench pointed at the ceiling. (...) I assume the 'blank inhibit' pin is BINH (docs are at home, I am at work), and that is connected to (...) (28 years ago, 20-Mar-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Sonar and the handyboard

(...) Since 8" is the 'minimum' distance the board can see, I strongly suspect that your transducer isn't sufficiently damped. This will cause it to continue 'ringing' after the pulse is sent and when the receiver switches on, its still vibrating so (...) (28 years ago, 20-Mar-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  IR for bots

Hello everyone, My thinking (albeit limited), has been that simply driving an IR LED with ac (ie:40Khz) as opposed to static dc, is enough to discriminate it from other frequencies like 60 Hz. or whatever. Then, when the detector picks up sufficient (...) (28 years ago, 20-Mar-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: New motor drivers

(...) The motors are 12 volt 1 amp motors. I know that the piggyback method will give me the higher current but I am not that fond of that method. I would prefer to have one controller that has power to spare than a rigged system that will just (...) (28 years ago, 20-Mar-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Sonar and the handyboard

(...) Yup. I have one of those tapeless tape measures with the smaller transducer, and the handyboard connected one is louder, so I wonder if that might be something? (28 years ago, 20-Mar-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

Tom, Are you hearing a ticking sound coming from the transducer? Let me know. (...) (28 years ago, 20-Mar-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  Re: Sonar and the handyboard

Hi, with all this talk of sonar, I thought I finally get to hooking mine up. All I get is 8". If I unplug it, I get 0". I'd swear I have it hooked up right. Someone sent out a mail earlier this week, and I had mine hooked up just like it said. I (...) (28 years ago, 20-Mar-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)

  RE: Motorola Microprocessor source

I got my 6811s from Allied Electorics - www.allied.avnet.com My LM052Ls came from Marshall - www.marshall.com For the Sharp IS1U60, I substituted the Sharp GP1U58Y. I got them from NovaSoft 1-804-272-5752 or 1-407-672-6780 Note that the pin (...) (28 years ago, 20-Mar-97, to lugnet.robotics.handyboard)
