I have an opportunity to purchase some additional sets for my classroon.
Currently I have one RIS with some additional sensors, motors, pneumatics, and
an extra RCX.
Please offer some advice on purchasing 4 complete RIS sets as compared to a
ROBOLAB educational pack with 4 RCX's, teacher/student resources etc.
I have not used ROBOLAB before!
As an alternative, I am considering purchasing one traditional robotic arm
(LAB-Volt Armdroid 1000) with teaching pendant, computer interface, software,
etc.
Any comments are appreciated.
P.S. I am a Robotic Newbie either way!

Not as a teacher, but as a student, I would say that the LEGO is a far better
'deal' for the students than the robotic arm.  I've played with both ( I have 2
RCX's, and a Mini Scout), and used a robotic arm in school.   You can build a
robotic arm out of lego using mindstorms, whereas the robotic arm is exactly
that...

(mind you, I did have a $5000 pencil sharpener !)
(robotic arm, electric pencil sharpener, program...

I don't know what you get in the ROBOLAB package vs the RIS packs.  You do get
aditional towers/cables if you buy mult copies of the RIS, which in a edu.
environment isn't a bad thing, whereas here at home, I don't need more of them.

Look closely at the technic parts that come with the ROBOLAB set (although, I
cannot see lego shortchanging teachers...it isn't company philosphy)
