Last time I saw any specs, USB had a distance limit of around 6 feet, though
that may have changed by now.

It is great!!
I do not know if you considered the use of a Internet Cam attached to an USB
port (and enought wire) to let the rob move around and obtain visual
information to analyse and process later (Rel 1.0). My stimation is that I
will need about 12t wire to keep the cam and the laptop in connected without
problems.
There is the problem of the load, but I need more the elephant speed than a
cheetah.
I am intrigued about the motion sensor. Is any spare part from S@H? Are you
connecting a commetial motion sensor to the RCX and controlling the states?

| I did not have that information, and this reduce the range of the bot. My main problem is the use of the parallel port for external storage media. The information I have looks to be uncomplete. I am searching in the web for a better source. (...) (26 years ago, 25-Nov-98, to lugnet.robotics)
