Hmm, I don't think that's quite true. You can equip the robots with
rotation sensors, and have them programmed such that they will send
the values of their respective rotation sensors every so often. They
can either send them to one another directly, or transmit them to the
PC, which will relay them to all other interested robots. You can
do some empirical measurements as to what distances/angles the values
correspond to, and all of a sudden you are not so blind anymore :)

| I think that a good way to have a lasertag competition is to have an arena with many walls to hide behind, and have the robots programmed with different tactics of defense and offense. It's not hard to make an IR light beacon on top of each robot, (...) (25 years ago, 27-Oct-99, to lugnet.robotics)
