I've always assumed the material is polystyrene, probably a modified resin
for impact resistance. You could basically eat this stuff, it's used for
plastic forks, etc, but I wouldn't smoke it ;>)
As to motors, several folks including myself, have come up with relay
outputs on the motor outputs of the Rcx. With a single set of contacts,
you give up speed control, fwd and rwd, and the ability to "brake" stop.
You can get some of this back with creative output wiring, but it's not
the same.
I'm sure you could take the PWM signal from the Rcx and simply drive the
base of a more powerful transistor. With a diode bridge, you can easily
grab the output of the Rcx in either fwd or rwd, but this voids the
directional control. I'm not sure how you could retain directional
control, but I haven't tried it, so....

Hi everybody...
I was wondering if anybody has investigated attaching more powerful motors
to the RCX.
Can anybody tell me (before I bother finding out myself) how to rig up a
more powerful motor by getting the RCX output to control some sort of
amplifier that controls a bigger motor?
Also, just as side note, does anybody know what kind of plastic they use to
make lego? And is it safe?

that I wasn't the only adult buying, and getting really into lego.
