I'm working on a wall-following robot to vacuum my baseboards.
I just recently hooked up a $8.00 6v mini-vac to the motor output, and
I'm mounting a touch
sensor near the vacuum brush to detect the wall/baseboard. I had a front
touch bumper,
but it proved rather inefficient for trying to orient parallel to a
wall. I'm going
to attempt using the IR port instead.
