A couple of people have asked about using Visual Basic with Spirit.ocx.
Since I already had VB 5.0, I chose this language to use with my new
Mindstorms kit .  Once you understand the rather strange syntax used in some
of the statements, and the restrictions on variables, this is a very nice
way to program the RCX.   In addition, VB is very useful in developing all
kinds of Windows applications.  I probably wouldn't buy it just to use with
the RCX.  In answer to Charles specific question, ( from what I can remember
of using VB code in MS access) - The code must be included in a "Module",
which can then be called as an "Event Procedure", or can be called from a
macro.  I don't know if this is the way "Word" and "Excel"  use VB.  I'd be
happy to exchange information with anybody else who's using Visual Basic,
either on this list or by private email.  Since I'm new to Mindstorms, and
Lego construction, I've been spending most of my time learning to build
power transmissions.  I've built five or six versions of the + -
transmissions discussed here, and finally have settled on one that will stay
together long enough so I can program it to do something!  Thanks to all
those on this list, for their descriptions, Web pages, and photos. ---
Regards - John.

Subject: MS Access/Visual Basic

I am trying to be able to program the RCX using Visual Basic in Office 97
Access, but cannot get it to work.  It works fine in both Word and Excel.
Anyone have any experience in getting this set up?  I can the put the
spirit.ocx control on a form, but when I try to write a program, the
commands do not show up.  Any help would be appreciated.
