it sure is! from a visual basic perspective, use:
RCX.Poll(3, n)
given your spirit is named RCX and "n" is the motor you want to check (0-2). the byte
that is returned is packed as follows (from the spirit.ocx sdk):
Bit 7: ON/OFF 1/0
Bit 6: Brake/Float 1/0
Bit 5: Output no. HiBit
Bit 4: Output no. LoBit
Bit 3: Direction CW/CCW 1/0
Bit 2: PowerLevel Most significant bit
Bit 1: PowerLevel
Bit 0: PowerLevel Least significant bit
