With this IR Radar stuff is the reflected signal that is picked up by the
sensor also strong enough to be picked up by the RCX?  if so....

Send Out a number N,
If the sensor thinks there is something close then
if last number received via IR port == N  then
it's probably us
Change N
Repeat.

If you change N randomly and sample several times before making a decision
then you can be pretty sure that it's your own reflection you are "seeing"
and not a tower or hostile RCX :)

I think you misunderstood a bit. You still use the Light Sensor as discussed to get an approximate range, It'll never be great, All you use the RCX's IR input for is to verify that the signal you recieved was the one you sent out. The two work (...) (25 years ago, 13-Jan-99, to lugnet.robotics)
