  Re: New user questions

(...) One important source is the "block help" in the lower right corner of the environment. Select a block you have questions about, and make sure the "?" tab is selected, and a very short help text will show up there. Click on "more help" and a (...)   Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

(...) With that particular example, it seems I can drop a Sound block in front of the loop as a whole, or even in front of the original Sound block within the loop just prior to the sequence beam split. But in general, you're correct - I'm doing (...) (19 years ago, 5-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics, FTX)

  New user questions

I received my Mindstorms NXT this weekend and I am on a steep learning curve as this is my first Mindstorms product. I am stuggling with the programming as the documentation seems to be lacking for a new user. I could some expert advise. Here is (...) (19 years ago, 5-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

(...) Hi Brian, Indeed, it does work. But you better not have to add some blocks in front of of a split beam (inside or outside a loop)! Philo (19 years ago, 5-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics, FTX)

Re: NXT code - Point turn and find closest object

(...) It looks really similar to code I wrote for DAZLR to do the same thing, except that I didn't come up with the idea of reseting the rotation sensor so I could use a "Wait for zero on rotation sensor" to relocate the target - very nice idea, (...) (19 years ago, 5-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT newsgroup needed

(...) I started this thread, so obviously my vote is for creating a separate NXT group. In other posts some people indicated they'd like all discussions grouped together so they're easier to see in news reading software. It's been my habit to post (...)   Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

(...) I'm not so sure. Try the following technique on your copy, in case something is broken in my version of the editor. To make a parallel sequence, you just drop an orphan block (one not attached to an existing sequence) and then wire a sequence (...) (19 years ago, 5-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics, FTX)

Re: thoughts on gbc module reliability

I built a few modules for an Australian AFOL meeting. I must say i did very little testing. (2 URLs) The three components were: 1 conveyor belt (excellent reliablility and throuput) 2 screw (inspired by Philo) which had a tiny bow in the 32L axle (...)   Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

(...) I sent this to Lego Tech Support: ((URL) is a serious bug in the Lego Mindstorms NXT software for Macintosh. At the end of the installation process, the software runs "chmod -R 777" on the contents of the folder into which you have decided to (...) (19 years ago, 5-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Bluetooth problems, was Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

(...) A couple ideas. It seemed to work exactly once for me on a couple laptops. I was able to restore it by deleting all of the virtual serial ports it created (it seems to create one for each scan, then it looses track of which one it's supposed (...)   Re: NXT newsgroup needed

Thanks Steve. That's a great start. (19 years ago, 4-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT compatible bluetooth adapters

Yes! I got the Kensington 33085 to work with the NXT on both Mac OS X and Windows. There are a bunch on sale at ebay for $17 incl shipping with buy-it-now. Here are the steps: OS X - when you plug in the adapter it will ask something about (...) (19 years ago, 4-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

(...) Ye gods! Those are some huge bugs. Is there any way to report them to Lego or NI? (Guess I spoke too soon about good Mac support.) I'm repairing permissons now, and I've fixed up my uninstaller shell script. But this is a big problem that (...) (19 years ago, 4-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT newsgroup needed

Hi Robert, That would work for us on a mailing list, but not those who want to differentiate by drilling down on the web interface. If you are on a mailing list, it really is pretty painless to subscribe to more than one list. I think having two (...) (19 years ago, 4-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT newsgroup needed

My thought is to have a single Mindstorm group because I think almost everyone is interested in both. I only have a single RCX and am not planning on upgrading anytime soon (got into RCX relatively late in the game). In fact I am hoping to find a (...) (19 years ago, 4-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT newsgroup needed

I can see most groups in one place, as I use most of them like a mailing list (although this means I miss out on the joy of FTX). I tend to agree that I would like to see both NXT and RCX stuff as well as a lot of the other robotics and lego stuff, (...) (19 years ago, 4-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

NXT code - Point turn and find closest object

I've been experimenting. Here's my code to scan 360 using a point turn to find the closest object and then point the bot at that object. This doesn't seem to be real accurate. Can someone else improve it? (URL) (19 years ago, 4-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

(...) One very big caveat about this - at the end of the installer process on a Mac it runs chmod -R 777 on the contents of the folder installed into. Thus, every single thing in your Applications directory (and all subdirectories, including (...) (19 years ago, 4-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT compatible bluetooth adapters

(...) Here's a bit of a jumpstart for the list. I've collected this list over the last couple months from the MDP. They are all reported to work. There is some info for Macs, but not a lot. Steve -- Device MFG: D-LINK Device Model: DBT-120 coming (...) (19 years ago, 4-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)
