  Re: NXT newsgroup needed

My thought is to have a single Mindstorm group because I think almost everyone is interested in both. I only have a single RCX and am not planning on upgrading anytime soon (got into RCX relatively late in the game). In fact I am hoping to find a (...) (19 years ago, 4-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT newsgroup needed

I can see most groups in one place, as I use most of them like a mailing list (although this means I miss out on the joy of FTX). I tend to agree that I would like to see both NXT and RCX stuff as well as a lot of the other robotics and lego stuff, (...) (19 years ago, 4-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

NXT code - Point turn and find closest object

I've been experimenting. Here's my code to scan 360 using a point turn to find the closest object and then point the bot at that object. This doesn't seem to be real accurate. Can someone else improve it? (URL) (19 years ago, 4-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

(...) One very big caveat about this - at the end of the installer process on a Mac it runs chmod -R 777 on the contents of the folder installed into. Thus, every single thing in your Applications directory (and all subdirectories, including (...) (19 years ago, 4-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT compatible bluetooth adapters

(...) Here's a bit of a jumpstart for the list. I've collected this list over the last couple months from the MDP. They are all reported to work. There is some info for Macs, but not a lot. Steve -- Device MFG: D-LINK Device Model: DBT-120 coming (...) (19 years ago, 4-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  NXT compatible bluetooth adapters

Let's start a list of bluetooth adapters that are and are not compatible with the NXT. I purchased a Kensington model 33085 for $17 total incl shipping from ebay. It can discover the NXT using Mac OS X bluetooth configuration but can't find it using (...) (19 years ago, 4-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  RE: NXT newsgroup needed

I like the idea of the newsgroups staying together -- I mean having one newsgroup for RCX and NXT stuff. I read all the information. I like seeing what people think of the NXT and how they are using it. I'd rather not monitor two lists. I intend on (...) (19 years ago, 4-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Re: NXT newsgroup needed

(...) What's the current consensus on this? Personally, I'm feeling like we should add a group, and do it now, as people are beginning to receive their sets. But I don't use this area frequently. Would we have a volunteer for curator of this new (...) (19 years ago, 3-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

(...) I am still having Bluetooth connectivity problems. It may be endemic of my USB dongle I am using; I don't know. I have had a couple successfull connections with BT, but nothing I would consider reliable or consistent. I did mess around with it (...) (19 years ago, 3-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

  Mindstorm "NXT"

Received my "NXT" by UPS on 6/29/2006. Off hand, it appears to me that if a firmware for a mobile phone, using windows XP, is developed for the "NXT" CPU, then I could download my mobile phone pocket pc software and then I could use MS Robot (...) (19 years ago, 3-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

(...) If you check "Control: Power Power", the motor speed will be regulated. At very low power settings (<10) it may be somewhat unstable. This checbox is available with "Motor" block, not "Move" block. (...) Unfortunately, you're right... Philo (19 years ago, 3-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

I ordered mine from Target online. They had a deal for 10% everthing, so with tax and shipping it still worked out to less than $250. The web site says delivery for end of July, but I received mine on June 30. So far have built only the demo Tribot (...) (19 years ago, 3-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

(...) Thursday, when I saw this thread, I hadn't gotten a shipping email, so I looked on shop.lego.com for my orders. I didn't see it their either, so I figured it got lost in the shuffle. Besides, I really don't have time right now, so that's OK. (...) (19 years ago, 2-Jul-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: Have you got your NXT yet?

(...) Got my NXT in the mail last night and have spent several hours working with it. I am really impressed. I am already itching for temperature, more touch, and some other sensors. Todd (19 years ago, 30-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: thoughts on gbc module reliability

(...) Agreed. That's why I think that testing is one thing, but situational testing is something else. Over the last week, I have run nearly 25000 balls through my latest experiment. I think the trick is to set things up to feed themselves, (...) (19 years ago, 30-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: thoughts on gbc module reliability

(...) My pirate ship fired balls using a spinning LEGO tire like a pitching machine. By the end of Brickfest the tire was completely bald, and there were small flecks of black rubber all over the place. You can test, test, and test some more, but (...)   Re: thoughts on gbc module reliability

(...) Yeah, that's a good point. I've yet to have a module fail due to wear, but for at least one of my modules I've actually found a dusting of yellow ABS under certain axles by the end of the day. I guess part of this is just due to the fact that (...) (19 years ago, 30-Jun-06, to lugnet.robotics)
