As for hints, here are some thoughts:
-I found I had to break from the mindset of expecting to make connections that
were either parallel or perpendicular to others. With this new approach, there
are more options.
- I think that the previous motors (with the exception of the RC ones) were a
limit to the options. You had to build components to "translate" from studded to
studless first. With the new NXT motors, there are many connection points that
provide more possibilties than the others. The drawback - they are larger.
However, I have gotten used to this already.
-Focus on making modular components. Just like when you program, build your
robots on components. Typically, you may have a "drive" component, some sort of
grabber or picker part and maybe something else. Build and test each component
seperately, while ensuring that they will fit together when complete.
