As I was standing outside today and listening to the woodpeckers in the trees I
came up with an idea for a bot using the NXT sound sensor. You've guessed it, a
bird finder/tracker. The bot could simply rotate towards the direction of the
sound.
And taking the idea further you could do an educational experiment using two
microphones and asking the question(s) ...
Why do we have two ears and not one? How does having two ears allow us to better
determine the source of a sound?
One last idea would be to create a microphone array and implement a speaker
locator/tracker for video conferencing. You could experiment with the number of
microphones and the spacing between them.
