is there a tutorial on MacNQC on the net or
do I have to buy the book :-(

I'd have to agree - perfetly on-topic, it's onr of the components of this
newsgroup. To my knowledge MacNQC doesn't have a tutorial, but this forum can
act as an interactive one: what specific question do you have about MacNQC?

If your question is about the root language (NQC) instead of the front-end
(MacNQC), then there's a couple of web-based resources you might like. While out
of date and "not maintained", this isn't a bad starting place:

The tutorial will start you off with the basics, but there's a lot of room to
graw beyond it. For that, I used two sources: a chapter from Dave Baum's
excellent book on Mindstorms (the updated version explained, at least basicly,
events and resource access, something had to find documentation on), and finally
the language description itself. this is in a number of places, and I don't know
which is the most up to date (try Googling "NQC Programmers guide"), but here's
one:

http://ws.binghamton.edu/ieee/mindstorm05/nqcguide.htm

There's a lot of PDF version that pop up as well. These are less for the novice,
but there's a lot of good stuff buried in them. And if you want to go beyond
those... ask here, I guess.

Oh, one last thing I find *very* useful; a cheat-sheet:

http://neuron.eng.wayne.edu/LEGO_ROBOTICS/nqc_ref.pdf

PS- anyboy know why this stuff isn't linked to on the NQC page? I could find
nothing on the language description at all, I must have missed something.

(...) Hi Mac, I dont think that is off topic at all. It is most definately about Lego and Robotics. Have you googled it? I am not a Mac user, but I do use NQC. Does the linux version of NQC build and install in the same way on OS X? Danny -- Danny (...) (19 years ago, 9-Jan-06, to lugnet.robotics)
