It is a replacement for the RCX in that the NXT kit will do the same as an RIS
kit. The NXT is quite a bit more powerful as a computer, however. The specs (in
the FAQ - check customer service on the mindstorms site) state that it has an
ARM7 CPU and an undisclosed microprocessor supporting it. The language Lego will
include is a LabView version. Implementation of other software systems for it,
like BrickOS is for the RCX, should be quite doable.
