You can call methods in spirit to send commands to the RCX via the IR
tower, like a remote control. Since it is an ActiveX control you can do
some cool stuff with it, like call it from VB Script code on some web
page....
You can all call methods to build standard firmware code to download to
the RCX. Although I'm not sure why you'd want to since it isn't fun at
all.
The original lego block programming software used spirit.ocx to do all
the real non-UI work.
Anyway I think the latest SDK has a replacement component called Ghost
which does basicly the same stuff.

It's a DLL used to communicate with the RCX through the IR tower... I

Also not sure where I got it from, but it was free, and I didn't write it (...) (19 years ago, 25-Oct-05, to lugnet.robotics)
