hi

The Cogracar is a special vehicle for transport of great dimensions in
double railway lines.
The main element is constituted by a platform which seats in two wagons
that deslocates paralell, each one of them towed by a locomotive.  The
Cogracar is controlled by a computer RCX carried in one of the trains.
The Cogracar was conceived to have a certain tolerance in the distance
between the lines and the angle formed between them.  Moreover, it also
allows that the lines are at different heights.  This way, it can
operate in many existing lines.  That is possible because each one of
the two base-wagons is equiped with an elevator.

A sensor is used (sensor horizontal) to measure the relative advance of
the two trains.  The RCX uses this information to keep them side by
side.  Another sensor (sensor vertical) measures the vertical distance.
The RCX controls the two elevators to to keep the platform hozizontal.
Both the sensors are mounted under the platform.
The Cogracar can be disassembled an converted to a serial train so that
it can go to any place served by an usual rail line.

Programmed with Lejos.

For more information (in portuguese), see the cogracar.txt file.

thanks:
Luis Baixinho, who sent me by mail one of the technic worms i needed.
Juergen Stuber, wo gave me some information about the use o RCX to
control the train speed
