Sensors triggered twice?

Hi,
I wanted to show my son something with the light sensor. I quickly built
the code using the Mindstorms software (I still had no time to install
any alternative).
The problem is, that the other 'thread' (if bright) does start many
times before ending the previous run. Is there anything like 'critical
section', 'mutex', 'semaphore' or such to prevent such behaviour?
Yes, I'm a programmer, so using those colored blocks is a bit of pain
for me ;-))))
