Be careful if air volume is too big, it can act as air-tank too.
But I think you' ve got a good idea that should work.
You should close this added circuit when you use the pump function.

| Chris, I love your style. You do an excellent job of using structural parts aesthetically. In other words, you combine function with form very well.
