I know that Dan Parker of PNLTC has built two six wheeled contraptions that
are modeled after the mars rover.   They have very capable suspentions, can
track a wide variety of surface covers and the body stays level, but his are
not motorized.  I know he looked at Nasa's website and got the basics of how
the suspention worked and then built from that.  (he may have gotten tech
specs, I can't remember now.)
