I'm looking for a firmware hack that would place the battery level in one of
the variables so that the standard RCX code ( Spirit ) could access this
internally. I'd like to make my robot beep when it runs low on batteries.
Eventually I'd like to construct a battery replacement package that has
solar cells and a trickle charger for a pair of 9 volt rechargables and plug
it into the dc port on the RCX. Depending on the circuitry this could be
lighter than 6 AA's. Then I could program the robot to find a bright spot
on the floor and bask to recharge ( at least keep power to the memory ). I
don't have any experience with the microprocessor in the RCX - but obviously
there are a few bright fellows out there, if there is a OS replacement
already. I'm just looking for a minor tweak - the Spirit code is more than
sufficient and I prefer working in a higher level language than assembler.
