These (and the other two or three manufacturers) are actually using pager/cellphone
vibration motors. The batteries last for only a couple of minutes between recharges
and the radio range is only about 3 to 6 feet! You can get the motors separately
for the "Microsizers" cars (which are heavily customizable with different motors,
tires and suspension setups). They have all three motor types on sale as add-ons.
The radio's come in only two frequencies - one consumes the entire 27MHz band and
the other the entire 35MHz band. It's quite amazing that they could fit so much
into such a tiny package - but they are quite limited in many respects.
Do a google search on 'Microsizers' and you'll find half a dozen places that'll
sell you just the motors.

| I'm sure many of you know this already, but for those that don't... LEGO NBA Sports - -- Set #3429 comes with a wind-up motor and several technic parts (axels, gears, cams, bricks). One of those "gears" is the new one that can be used with a light (...) (21 years ago, 11-Feb-03, to lugnet.robotics)
