hi there,

as you may know, the RCX contains only 3 inputs + 3 outputs. and if you ever
tried to build a real robot with it, you may also know that this is far from
sufficient.

to solve this problem, we built some extension called LEPOMUX. it uses on of
the motorports as a data-channel and provides 8 (almost) transparently switched
sensor inputs and two PWM-controlled motor outputs. furthermore, it is able to
detect frequencies of about 100 and 125 Hz to recognize different infrared
beacons. this is done simultaneously for 3 IR-sensors attached to the lepomux.

I guess some of you might be interested in this thingy - so keep an eye on
www.lepomux.org. right now that site is only equipped with some pictures of
what the first prototyping phase looked like - but there's much more to come ...
