Okay, should say the PLD store's curriculum is geared toward RoboLab.
(Sorry for the continuous brain spasms here. I need to expand my days from
24 to 48 hours, and it isn't possible; therefore, sleep must be the thing
leave out!)

Sorry, should have thought to specify this is for an FIRST LEGO League
tournament.  We are using the RIS software and not RoboLab, which is what I
think this stuff is geared for.  It is too late in the game for us to switch
programming interfaces.

I know some on this list have remarked along the lines that they are FLL
people, but I know it is a minority.  I also posted this to the TAFFIE
robotics list, where almost everyone is an FLL or BEST coach.

We're just looking for resources, and we are thankful for any and all
advice.

Liz, this list isn't even close to being dominated by FLL stuff, so you have
to identify what you are talking about.  I am assuming from your signature
that you are talking about the FLL competition.

I don't think code would help you much -- you would have to know how the
robot is constructed to make any sense of it.

I recommend the various FLL resources on the web.  There are a number of
"coaching guides" that will help you.  I have one as well, though it is not
available on the web.  It definitely helps to have seen a competition run,
but don't worry if you haven't.  Making a robot that goes precisely where
you want it and comes back reliably has been the key to all FLL competitions
since the beginning.  Work on this, saving the "arm" or 3rd operation for
later, and you will do well.

Does anyone have their RIS code for last year's challenge posted
anywhere?

We are still teaching programming and thought this would really give us
a good example to teach by.  We are also looking for a video of last
year's competition and are willing to pay tape and shipping costs.

We are a first-year team approaching this year's challenge and have
never seen a competition, and hope to get some insight.  We have NO
competition experience.  I hope this question is not unorthodox,
forgive me if it is.

Or if you can point us to any sites that would have this type of
information.

Thanks!
