The Stamp (1 and 2) have a PWM command. It can be used to vary a light source
and thus the resistance read on a light sensor I tried this. It works, but
not well. I can't get the light level to be constant enough to be useful.
Figuring out the serial communications is probably a more fruitful way to go.
I believe that there is an Application note about infrared communications.
I'm looking into it.
