I'd suggest you stick with something that uses the "standard" firmware. That
basically limits you to Robolab, the Lego software, Gordon's Brick
Programmer or NQC (I think). Gordon's Brick Programmer might be a handy few
hour adventure into what all the functions and features are called and
allows you to create a graphical representation of your program. Armed with
the knowledge gained there of all the functions and features available, it
becomes a smaller step to NQC where these things are formalised into a
procedural text based interface.
That was the route I went - I'm not a C programmer, but NQC has become
pretty much second nature now.

I have only recently gotten into Mindstorms and wanted to ask about moving on to another language to program the RCX with. I have no programming skills (...)
