I recently purchased Brian Bagnall's book on LeJOS programming,

yes, it's a very nice book, and covering a lot of ground,
I got it on Monday (thanks, Brian).

in the Jurrassic era).

Yes, that's quite a distance, though both are imperative languages.
For a start you can stay mostly with static methods,
then you essentially leave out the object orientation
and get a language that is conceptually similar to FORTRAN.
(Actually most people seem to do just that with leJOS.)

Does anyone know of a site with a discussion board on LeJOS where a n00b
would be tolerated?

I think lugnet.robotics.rcx.java would be the best place for that,
you can help breathe a little more life into it.

Also, URLs for sites with LeJOS examples would be cool.

There's not much that I'm aware of, besides what is in the
distribution and on the leJOS website.
Maybe you can try Google:

Have fun

Jürgen
