    RIS parts questions —Jonathan Wilson
I have a RIS 2.0 Other than changes to the RCX brick, software, documentation/manuals/etc & IR tower, what parts would I need to obtain to have the equivilant of a RIS 1.5? What about a 1.0? (23 years ago, 29-Mar-02, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.rcx)

     (...) That didn't change. (...) 2.0 software is better (...) didn't change (...) Nothing. (...) I don't think there's a 1.0 downgrade option :-), I think the difference is only a few pieces. You can compute the set difference from the Peeron (...) (23 years ago, 29-Mar-02, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.rcx)

(...) interesting, but would it really be useful? how many sets would it make sense to compare like this? Dan (23 years ago, 29-Mar-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: RIS parts questions —Kyle McDonald
(...) Maybe only a few. But if you could also add sets together and then compare the results to another set that could be useful. You coud add together 3 or 4 sets, and see if you'd have the pieces needed to build some 5th set that you don't (...) (23 years ago, 29-Mar-02, to lugnet.robotics)

(...) The Parts Catalog software (see lugnet.db.inv) can both read HTML pages saved from Peeron and compute set differences - but you need Win2K William (23 years ago, 29-Mar-02, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Re: RIS parts questions —John Gentilin
(...) I just bought a RIS 1.0 Set on EBay and although shorter, I think the constructorpedia is better in RIS 1.0. It has less in actual bots to put together but explains more of the basics, fir instance the difference between grey & black pegs. . (...) (23 years ago, 30-Mar-02, to lugnet.robotics)

Re: RIS parts questions —Rich Jenkins
Hi Johnathan, Aside from some very minor changes in the parts and the RIS software, the only difference between kits is the RCX 1.0 has an AC jack, which comes in handy for stationary robots like robotic arms or sorting machines. I've heard that the (...) (23 years ago, 29-Mar-02, to lugnet.robotics, lugnet.robotics.rcx)

Re: RIS parts questions —Juergen Stuber
(...) The RCX 1.0 in RIS 1.0 has a jack, the RCX 1.0 in RIS 1.5 doesn't (unfortunately, I have two of them). The 2.0 on the RCX 2.0 is purely for decoration, there's no user visible difference whatsoever to the RCX 1.0 without the jack.
