    So polling is the only software way of keeping the tower alive. I guess I
can have the PC poll with single-byte NO-OP packets then. However, since my
application is LIDAR, I'm a bit worried about the random IR bursts from the
tower sending NULL bytes polluting my light measurements.

    Maybe the datalog upload is the way to go. Perhaps I can make the RCX stop
what it's doing (measuring) and communicate the stored data, then resume
measurements after the IR communication has ceased.

So, I have the hardware and RCX software for my LIDAR station done. I have the host-PC side client software to display the data collected in real time. Now I need to get tab A to fit into slot A by getting the two to talk to each other. My original (...) (23 years ago, 12-Feb-02, to lugnet.robotics)
