BricksWest will host the first ever BRICKHEAP WARS event.  This is a
competition loosely based on Junk Yard Wars.  This particular episode will
be a LEGO Mindstorms competition.  All materials (1) will be provided at the
competition.  No outside LEGO (or non-LEGO) parts will be permitted.  So if
you're interested in participating, all you need to do is show up!

As in Junk Yard Wars, the specific challenge will be announced at the
beginning of the competition.  Unlike Junk Yard Wars, each team will start
with an identical 'heap' of LEGO parts.

There will be room for up to four teams to participate in BrickHeap Wars:
Robot Challenge #1, each having between three and six participants.  Teams
should form ahead of time.  If you wish to participate, but don’t have
enough participants for your team, start looking earlier during the
conference.  Meet outside Ballroom A before the competition starts to find
final additions to your team.

Since we only have three hours, the competition will start exactly at 2pm.
There will be a very short orientation, and then the contest will begin.

NOTES: 1) This includes an RCX, a computer and software for programming it,
the IR tower, a selection of sensors and motors, as well as *MANY* LEGO
Technic pieces.

(...) --I say have five tables: four standard and one large area for parts (or just a huge heap of lego parts on the floor), and let the teams duke it out for parts...just like Junkyard Wars! Of course, then you have a small problem with fights (...) (23 years ago, 7-Feb-02, to lugnet.events.brickswest, lugnet.robotics)
