Old versions of RcxCC (i.e., Mark Overmars' original version and early
releases of my enhanced version) required the Spirit.OCX control to be
registered on your machine in order for RcxCC to run. BricxCC (a
significantly enhanced and recently renamed version of RcxCC) does not use
the Spirit.OCX ActiveX control so it will run fine without that control
being installed on your computer.
This ActiveX control is licensed software and you cannot have a copy on your
computer if you do not have a license to the RIS software (version 1.0 and
1.5). If all you have is version 2.0 of the RIS software then you do not
have a license to use Spirit.OCX.
In any case, you should strongly consider downloading and installing the
latest version of BricxCC. Version 3.3.2.13 is available here:
http://members.aol.com/johnbinder/bricxcc.htm
You should also download and install version 2.4a4 of NQC. Together these
two programs give you full support for the USB IR tower and COM1-COM8 for
the old serial IR tower. Make sure you install the nqc.exe executable in
either the same directory as BricxCC.exe or in a directory that is on your
system path.
Hope this helps,
John Hansen
